Thames panorama featuring London Bridge in red

The River Thames is home to some magnificent bridges – beautiful architectural constructions in wonderful settings. Unfortunately London Bridge is not one of them, and you will find few people commending London Bridge as a thing of beauty. Its important to me to feature all of the bridges of the Thames and I have walked the river many times in light and dark as well as different weather conditions trying to show London Bridge in its best light. This photograph of London Bridge is my most successful attempt to show it off. Although no the centrepiece of this photograph, London Bridge sits well alongside some less famous structures in this Thames panorama.

Sunset in North East Iceland

During my recent journey through Iceland I was accompanied by a talented group of photographers. Whilst many of my companions concentrated on the detail of Iceland’s natural wonders, many of my photographs featured the bigger picture. This sunset shot is a case in point – a busy shot but it worked for me iceland sunset.

I travelled through Iceland to photograph the natural beauty of its winter landscapes, but could not resist a series of shots of this power station. I was attracted by its minimalist appearance against snow on the ground and white skies above.

I had a couple of client appointments in London yesterday and took the opportunity for dawn photography along the River Thames. And what a wonderful morning! These two shots featuring the Albert and Chelsea Bridges were caught in some great light before sunrise. Worth getting up at 4 am!

I have just been working on this image of the Imam Mosque in Tehran and realise how much I like it myself. Continuing the theme of sacred places that have featured in my recent posts, this shot features the ornate ceiling decor of another remarkable structure from Isfahan / Esfahan, one of Iran’s most beautiful cities.

Sunday morning in a snowy Hertford churchyard

What a difference a few days and a few thousand miles makes! Sunday morning in my home town of Hertford followed a heavy snow fall the night before. There were Christmas card scenes throughout the town and surrounding countryside. Just a few days earlier I had been touring Sri Lanka and came across the majestic stupa of Jetvana just outside the country’s first capital city of Anuradhapura. Two very different sacred places from different worlds.
